Sky River Casino labor dispute
Sky River workers and Unite Here Local 49 say they've fought four years for a union the tribe agreed to recognize, with courts siding with the union. They invited the council to a September 30 picket line; the mayor declined to intervene, citing tribal sovereignty.
Small business accessibility (ACCESS) grants
Small businesses can now get half their ADA upgrade costs back, up to $10,000, for things like ramps, handrails, and wider doors. The idea came from a disability advisory committee member, and funding comes from a $4 business-license fee.
Alcohol service at SF Supermarket
The new SF Supermarket in the Elk Grove Village Shopping Center needed a city finding of public convenience or necessity because its census tract is overconcentrated with alcohol licenses. Police raised no objection, and the council approved it.
